If you’re like me, a Latina millennial, you remember what it was like to grow up watching legendary TV hosts like Don Francisco and Cristina Saralegui.

They were an integral part of our lives for years. While a new generation of entertainers has taken the stage, these iconic figures continue to remind us of the possibilities within the Latino community.
However, as time passes, their media presence has waned, but that’s to be expected. After all, it’s time for them to enjoy the fruits of their labor.
Unfortunately, society’s tendency to make things up has led to outlandish conclusions about public figures who haven’t been in the spotlight for a while.
One such example is Cristina Saralegui. Despite her absence from the media, she recently appeared on “Despierta America” to celebrate her 76th birthday and reassure fans that all is well.
“I’m here celebrating my 76th birthday because it’s been a long time since you’ve seen me on television. I’m not someone who posts on social media; I’m very private and don’t go out much. So, people are worried,” Saralegui shared on the show in Spanish.
Saralegui added to concerns about her well-being, “People are asking me if I’m okay. Even my cousin from Spain writes to me, asking if I’m fine.”
Setting the record straight, she addressed the rumors circulating on the internet: “It’s important to mention that on the internet, I’ve been ‘killed’ four times.
Last week, they ‘killed’ Julio Iglesias, Enrique, and José Feliciano. So, I want to tell people not to worry anymore.”
She also joked about how people make her look older than she is, “I am old, [but] they make me look like a mummy as if they had unearthed me in Egypt.”
In good spirits, Saralegui also spoke about how there’s nothing wrong in her life.
Apparently, people claim she’s an addict and is on the verge of going broke, but she said that’s not the case at all.
“Let me tell you the truth; I’m not an alcoholic, I’m not a drug addict, and I’m not bankrupt. In what world would I end up broke after everything I’ve worked for in my life? Would we, who owned three television studios, go bankrupt? Are you all fools?”
Cristina Saralegui Continues to Shine
It was refreshing to see Cristina Saralegui on TV again. Seeing her perfectly styled blonde bob on the screen was so comforting too.
At the end of the interview, she also did her iconic thumb signal and that was the cherry on top.
After becoming one of the most iconic Latinas in Spanish-language television history, we can all agree that Saralegui deserves to relax. Though many of us miss her constant presence on the silver screen, let’s not forget that Saralegui remains an enduring inspiration for generations of Latinos in the United States.
Cristina will always be that girl.
